Discover stuffed frogs at school, at the barber, as soldier in the army, or those playing cards around a table. Our unique collection of 108 frogs, created by François Perrier, 1848-1860, presents satirical scenes from everyday life during this era.

This surrealistic collection will inspire you as it has been admirated by thousands of visitors from around the world. The frogs are surrounded by numerous stuffed species from our local wildlife.

In the armory several stab and firearms, as well as numerous military equipments are shown, relating a number of periods of war from the middle Ages to the beginning of the 20th Century. Several items originally come from the internment of the Sepoys in Estavayer-le-Lac between 1940 and 1941, but also from the Swiss mercenaries in the service of France at the time of the Burgundian War. This building was constructed in the beginning of the 14th Century, owned by Humbert le Bâtard, Lord of Estavayer.

Next to an authentic cuisine from the 17th Century, stands a motley crew of objects from teh everyday life of past centuries. Tools, toys, church vestments and objects are combined in different rooms of the museum. Prints, antique paintings and books round out this illustration.

Prehistory is also exhibit with a collection of objects from the Stone and Bronze Age. This colleection is mainly composed of objects, which were discovered during the first correction of waters coming from the Jurassic lakes. In the process, hundreds of stilt constructions works from the time of the lake dwellers became visible on the banks of Estavayer-le-Lac.
